JOJO & THE PINECONES
JoJo & The Pinecones are a New York City based band and 2016/17 Lincoln Center Kids Resident artists that performs modern jazz for the family audience. On their first youth focused album, "Night & Day" (2017), the group known for their distinctive 'jazzed-up pop and popped-up jazz' style as Joelle & The Pinehurst Trio, now share their exceptional talent with a new audience as their all-ages friendly alter ego JoJo & The Pinecones.
“Joelle Lurie has something in common with a lot of superheroes: She has two identities. To adults, she’s the leader of Joelle & the Pinehurst Trio, an ensemble known for contemporary jazz. But to children, she’s the driving force behind JoJo & the Pinecones, a band that fuses jazz and pop, offering both original tunes and its own arrangements of standards.”— The New York Times
“It’s a new day for family music – JoJo and the Pinecones wake up the field with a program both fresh and fun. Our audience couldn’t get enough of the Pinecones’ classic favorites and clever originals!” – Andrew Anzel, Lincoln Center Education
"She gives everything a fresh sound...an airy touch with putting pop grooves beneath old standards...Lurie is onto something here: both accessible and a little different..."- Will Layman, Popmatters.Com
